Amgen Tour of California Strikes Gold in Sonora CA

May 13-20, 2012, the Amgen Tour of California will once again travel throughout the state of California. As America’s most successful cycling race, the Amgen Tour of California is one of the nation’s largest and most recognized annual sporting events.
On May 16th, the city of Sonora, in the central California gold rush country, will make its debut as the Stage 4 Start Host City for the Sonora to Clovis circuit of this premier bicycle race.
This year’s drama and excitement will include the scenic Sierra Nevada foothills and the Wild West history of Sonora and its nearby gold rush towns of Jamestown, Columbia and Groveland. Along with historic saloons and stage coaches, outdoor sports are a big part of the culture of the area. Racing fans and cyclists will experience family friendly activities, and unique experiences while visiting to watch the race.
